One Day Trip:
close to Glasgow, few different walks, picturesque scenery, Highlands like experience.
The Greenock Cut is a 6.5km long aqueduct built in the 19th century to carry water from Loch Thom reservoir to the various industries in Greenock, as well as supplying drinking water to the town. The Cut was used until 1971 when it was superseded by a tunnel, and designated an Ancient Monument in 1972.
It is not far away from Glasgow, perfect for walks ( there are few options ). The maps of the walks are easy to find at Visitor Centre. http://clydemuirshiel.co.uk/park-sites/greenock-cut/
There is a taste from a road trip from Glasgow. And if you are lucky you can catch few rainbows on the way.
